Waterproof PIR presence sensor surface 360º IP54
IP54 watertight PIR surface presence sensor
The presence and brightness sensor is the perfect device for the correct energy management of lighting installations, since it can control the switching on and off with its proper pre-configuration. Its high resolution and precision allow to detect minimal movements, making the presence sensor the ideal element in those areas where movements are reduced but it is necessary to keep the light on, such as in offices, school classrooms, bathrooms, libraries, etc.
Main functions of the waterproof surface presence sensor
The presence sensor detects day and night: The user can adjust the operation of the sensor for each type of ambient lighting. If we adjust the LUX function towards the sun (day mode), it will work both day and night. If, on the other hand, it is set to the moon (night mode), it will work only at night. The degree of sensitivity will depend on the setting of the LUX function, with 10 lux being the minimum in night mode and 2000 lux the maximum in day mode.
The length of time the sensor keeps the light on can be adjusted with the TIME knob. If set to maximum, the sensor will activate the switch and the light will remain on for approx. 10 minutes after the last presence detection. If set to minimum, the light will turn off after approx. 10 seconds.
The SENS function allows us to adjust the sensitivity with respect to the detection distance, with 25 meters being the maximum, and 2 meters the minimum. This makes it the ideal solution in large rooms, being able to manage the lighting automatically in spaces of more than 100 square meters in normal temperature conditions (around 25ºC).
Its watertight design with IP54 degree of protection allows it to be installed outdoors and in wet areas, so it can also be used to illuminate porches, house entrances, patios and gardens.
Differences between a presence sensor and a motion sensor
Motion sensors activate the switch when motion is detected within the selected detection zone and ambient light levels fall below the threshold selected with the LUX function. After the time has elapsed, the switch is deactivated and the lights are switched off.
In contrast, presence sensors are much more sensitive and accurate. While a motion sensor detects a person walking, the movement of an arm, etc., a presence sensor is capable of detecting the movement of a finger, a sheet of paper, a head movement, etc.
If you want to install a detector in a sedentary area, such as offices, classrooms or libraries, where there are no large movements for long periods of time but require constant lighting without cuts, the perfect solution is the installation of a presence sensor. If, on the other hand, you install a motion sensor, to achieve this functionality you would have to set the time function to maximum, in order to wait for detectable movements to occur within that period of time. This would reduce the efficiency and purpose of the sensor.
Installation of the surface watertight presence sensor
Installation is very simple:
- Disconnect the power supply from the line to avoid accidents.
- Remove the front casing by pressing the sensor slightly backwards. The configuration panel will be exposed.
- Program the TIME, LUX and SENS functions according to your needs.
- Connect the power supply to the power strip on the back, following the wiring diagram.
- If you want to mount the presence sensor in humid environments or outdoors, you must adequately protect the terminal strip. We recommend RAYTECH products, watertight junction boxes protected with gel.
- Screw the sensor against the wall with the fasteners included in the box.
- Place the front casing and the product is ready for use.

Recommendations
- Despite the simplicity of the product's installation, we recommend that it be installed by a specialist, electrician or person familiar with electrical installations and their risks.
- Disconnect the power supply at all times during assembly, disassembly and handling or configuration of the device.
- Make sure that the device is receiving the correct voltage.
- Check that the power connected to the circuit controlling the sensor does not exceed the maximum allowed.
- Do not install anything in front of or near the sensor that would prevent proper motion detection.
- Check that the ambient temperature of the environment does not exceed 40ºC.
- Check that there are no elements that vary the temperature abruptly, such as air conditioning, heating, stoves, etc.
- Make sure to place the sensor within the recommended height range.

Questions
P: Question: | Is it suitable for LEDs, and if so, how many watts can it hold? |
---|
R: Answer: | For low consumption and led luminaires under 1000W, it depends on the power factor of the luminaire. |
---|
P: Question: | What is the maximum power allowed with fluorescent, low consumption or led loads? |
---|
R: Answer: | For incandescent bulbs 2000W, for energy-saving technology about 1000W. |

P: Question: |
Good morning, can you tell me if the PIR presence sensor waterproof surface 360º IP54, can be adjusted in height so that it does not detect in the part close to the ground (1 mt. approx.), the passage of pets. Thank you very much. |
---|
R: Answer: | The 360º IP54 surface waterproof PIR presence sensor , allows to regulate the sensitivity of the sensor from 25 meters maximum to 2 meters minimum. It cannot regulate its sensitivity to one meter of proximity. |
